(CNN) –
Donald Trump Jr. was deposed as part of the action by the Attorney General of Washington, DC, alleging the misuse of Trump’s inaugural funds, according to a new lawsuit.
In a court document dated Tuesday, the office of DC Attorney General Karl Racine revealed that the son of the former president was deposed on February 11.
The suit says Trump’s testimony “raised more questions about the nature” of a hotel bill that Racine’s office is investigating. The attorney general’s office alleges that the Trump Organization signed a contract with the Loews Madison hotel for $ 49,358.92 for a block of rooms during the 2017 inauguration, and that the bill was later forwarded to the Presidential Inauguration Committee who then paid the bill, according to the filing.
The AG’s office requested more time to obtain discovery materials and make depositions, according to the process, adding that the office faced “repeated obstacles, including misleading statements, a closed hotel and new information revealed after the deadline for issuing the Discovery requests were approved on February 8. ”
Loews Madison is closed due to the pandemic and has changed ownership twice, according to the document.
Racine’s office also ousted Rick Gates, who was vice president of the Presidential Inauguration Committee at the end of December, says the suit. Ivanka Trump also testified in December.
