Samsung started releasing its latest One UI 3.1 software update for selected regions last week, bringing new features from Galaxy S21 series of phones for more devices, including the Galaxy S20 Series, Galaxy Note 20 Series, Galaxy Z Fold 2 and Galaxy Z Flip.
Samsung never uses standard Android software, but instead puts its own version into the design. In the early days of Galaxy phones, it was something called TouchWiz, which was heavily criticized by reviewers. In late 2018, Samsung revealed One UI in order to make it easier for users to browse their phones. The third generation of the software arrived in December along with Android 11.
A 3.1 UI includes the following new features, all already available on Galaxy S21 phones:
- Enhanced single outlet: An updated Single plug feature for phone cameras allows you to capture multiple images and video clips by pressing the shutter button just once. The feature was launched on the Galaxy S20, but the S21 line brought more effects.
- Object eliminator: The new smart photo editing tool eliminates all unwanted parts of your photos, without manual editing.
- Multimedia recording: Record audio over the phone and a connected Bluetooth device at the same time, for better quality audio and video.
- Eye comfort shield: This new setting automatically adjusts the blue light being emitted from your phone based on the time of day, which can help with eye strain. You can enable it in the Quick Settings panel.
- Private sharing: This feature allows you to share encrypted files and set permissions and expiration dates for the data, as well as grant read-only access.
