A future father was killed on Sunday in New York after the device he was building for his gender reveal party exploded, police said.
The explosion occurred in a house in Liberty, NY, killing Christopher Pekny, 28, and injuring his brother Michael Pekny, 27, who was transported to Garnet Medical Center in Middletown, according to a statement by Major James C. Michael of New York. State Police.
Another brother called the explosion a “strange accident”.

The injured brother was listed in stable condition, the report said.
The family owns the Robin Hood Diner, a restaurant in the Catskills area of New York. The family went to Facebook to thank their followers for the “overwhelming display of love and support that you all showed”.

Authorities said the incident was still under investigation by the state police and the bomb disposal unit.
