After winter delayed shipments of the coronavirus vaccine, New Jersey began receiving shipments back, state officials said on Monday.
All six mega-sites received some of Pfizer’s vaccines late on Saturday, Health Commissioner Judith Persichilli said at the last COVID-19 meeting in Trenton. The state expects the additional accumulation of Pfizer photos to be delivered on Monday.
The state is still waiting to know when this week’s distribution of Pfizer vaccine will be delivered, she said.
Regarding the Modern vaccine, Persichilli said that most sites will receive deliveries on Monday.
“In addition, half of the vaccination sites should receive the allocation of the first doses of Moderna today this week,” she said.
“We know that these shipping delays caused some commitments to be rescheduled,” said Persichilli. “Vaccine shortages are a national problem and shipping delays have also been felt across the country. We continue to ask for your patience. “
She said that all locations will be “working hard” to ensure that everyone who has had an appointment canceled is rescheduled, noting that federal vaccine allocations will increase in the coming weeks.
Persichilli said the state is making progress in vaccinating its “most vulnerable populations”.
Thirty-three percent of people aged 80 and older received at least one dose of the vaccine, she said, and 13% of those received both doses. People in this age group account for 47% of deaths from the virus, she said.
Of those aged 65 to 79, 33% received at least one dose of the vaccine, said Persichilli.
Persichilli also addressed the ongoing problems with the call center, saying that “there is no fixed date” for agents to start making appointments for people.
“We are still having some system problems. They are being worked on, ”she said, noting that a system update from last week“ went well ”.
Governor Phil Murphy also considered the update a success.
“We had a successful chapter with the supplier at the end of last week. This has been a lively and challenging reality, ”he said. “We will hope that this chapter at the end of last week bodes well for more and better chapters.”
