The line-up starts hours early for the opening of the first Buc-ee’s travel center in Florida

ST. AUGUSTINE, Fla. – It is known for promoting the largest convenience store in the world. The national travel center, Buc-ee’s, is opening its first location in Florida today.

The new location on the World Commerce Parkway in St. Augustine is 52,600 square feet and offers 104 fueling positions.

The chain carries with it a cult of followers. Dozens of people were in line outside the store before 5:15 am on Monday morning.

Stores are often divided into gift shops, which feature items such as clothing, decor, sporting goods and more – and food services and convenience stores.

Doors open at 6am

Many people who lived in the area were concerned about how the gas station would affect property values. More than 2,000 people signed a petition opposing the venture in 2019, citing traffic problems and worse quality of life.
