Historic Victorian house from 1880 in San Francisco, known as Englander House, moves to a new location

SAN FRANCISCO (KGO) – A relic from San Francisco’s past moved to a new location on Sunday and you can see it was a spectacle.

A grand Victorian from 1880 was taken and transferred six blocks from Franklin Street to Fulton Street.

Giant carts are carrying about a mile an hour and cost $ 400,000 dollars. More than a dozen municipal agencies agreed to the move.

It is known as Englander House and will be reconfigured into modern residential units.

The move was not an easy task. Power lines, parking meters and street lights have been removed for the move. and Muni had to redirect some bus lines

The six-bedroom, three-bathroom house still retains the original 19th century wood and “anchor bolts”.

The company says houses like these are worth preserving rather than demolishing.
