A 139-year-old Victorian home was moved across the streets of San Francisco to its new home on Sunday.
The 5,170-square-foot house, known as Englander House, was moved from its original address at 807 Franklin St. to 635 Fulton St., just a few blocks away.
The move turned into something like a parade, with fascinated spectators leaving to watch a truck slowly and carefully pulling the historic house through the city streets.
“It is the biggest emotion I have had in 10 years. What if you topple over? ”A spectator, Camilla Blomqvist, told the San Francisco Chronicle.
The house belongs to San Francisco resident Tim Brown, who bought it in 2013 with plans to fix it after it fell into disrepair, according to Hoodline. The house, like the old morgue next to which it will now be located, will be combined and transformed into a 17-unit building, SF Gate said, and a 47-unit complex will be built on the lot where the house was located.
