Prince Markie Dee he had a serious cardiovascular problem that had not been treated and his manager suspected that this was what caused his sudden death.
Markie’s manager and best friend, Louis “Uncle louie” Gregory, tells TMZ … about a week before he died, Markie went to a hospital where he was told he would need a stent to relieve a blockage in his heart.
Louie says that Markie went to the hospital because her hands and feet were swollen and he realized that something was very wrong. It turns out he was right. Unfortunately, Louie says that Markie did not perform the stent procedure immediately.
As we reported … Markie, a third of the famous 80s hip-hop group The Fat Boys, suddenly died Thursday at 52.
Although the Miami-Dade County coroner did not disclose the cause of death – the autopsy results are pending – Louie says close friends of the family suspect it was a heart attack.
Louie told us that the last time he spoke to Markie was last Saturday on FaceTime, and he thought something was wrong – telling us that Markie didn’t like smoking cigars like they used to.
Louie told us that Markie didn’t mention her health problems during the call, but she did talk about her plans to get back in business … with the help of LL Cool J, an old friend of the New York hip-hop scene.
