Saturday Night Live once again opened with a simulation talk show, a device that allows the show to spear a trio of embarrassed public figures.
This week, it was Ted Cruz (Aidy Bryant), Andrew Cuomo (Pete Davidson) and Gina Carano (Cecily Strong) as guests on a talk show called Oops, you did it again, presented by Britney Spears (Chloe Fineman).
Cruz was at the center of a media storm this week after it was revealed that he and his family flew from Texas to Cancun for vacation, just when the state was in the middle of an emergency when the severe cold left millions of people without power.
“You literally abandoned [Texas] and flew to Cancún for a family vacation, ”Spears asked Cruz.
“That’s right. And now I’m in a difficult situation, what I was told is something that nobody in Texas has,” said Cruz.

“Would you like to apologize?” Spears asked.
“Absolutely. I deeply regret my actions in the last few days, most of them flying United,” said Cruz. “I’m sorry, I’m really bad with human things.”
Spears then asked, “Don’t you understand why people are calling you a coward?”
“Yes, a coward is actually the most beautiful word I’ve ever heard,” said Cruz.
Spears then explains Cruz’s initial explanation for the reason for his trip to Cancún: to be a “good father” and accompany his daughters on their trip.
“Would a coward have cajones to blame his young daughters for his actions? You blamed your daughters! ” she asked.
“Ah, yes, the whole trip was the girls’ idea. They love Cancún. There is a lot to do. The topless beach. Shots at Senor Frogs. Swim with sick dolphins. They love it. “
Spears then replied, “Like someone who always blamed other people’s problems when he was young – maybe leave his daughters out of it, because it could really mess with their heads.”
The next guest is Cuomo, who has been trying to manage the controversy over how he handled asylums during the Covid-19 pandemic. The state of New York has recognized that the number of deaths in these facilities has been greatly underestimated.
“Some of the people who died in nursing homes were not counted as deaths in nursing homes. They were counted as hospital deaths, which is basically what happens at Disney World. People die and move bodies. They say, ‘I think Brenda died in the parking lot, not in the cups of tea. So we just did the Disney thing. “
“Don’t you think you should apologize?” Spears asked.
“Yes,” said Cuomo, reluctantly.
“What was that?” Spears asked.
“I said I’m sorry, ”he replied.
“See, that was not so difficult. Bill de Blasio says you should be investigated. “
“I would love to bury you in the highest tomb this city has ever seen!” Said Cuomo, becoming indignant again. “I’m going to hire a hobo for Rick Moranis him so much that he’ll think he’s back to universal pre-k! I’m very sorry. I get a little angry from time to time and always. “
The last guest was Carano, who was fired from the The Mandalorian after posting a statement on Instagram comparing Jews being beaten in Nazi Germany to the treatment of conservatives in America.
“I didn’t do anything wrong,” said Carano. “No one can even explain what I did wrong. Explain.”
Spears replied, “Okay, on Instagram, you said that conservatives have as bad a life as people living in Nazi Germany.”
“Okay, congratulations, you explained that. I would never have made that comparison if I knew that everyone would be so Nazi about it. “
“Do you feel a victim of the culture of cancellation?” Spears asked.
“Absolutely. And I was canceled by Disney? Is Disney the moral basis? Did you hear Br’er Rabbit’s accent on the Splash Mountain tour recently?” She replied.
Cuomo then interrupted: “Well, if you die from this, they will move the body.”
