Houston Rockets and the DeMarcus Cousins center are planning to split up in the next few days, sources told The Athletic’s Shams Charania.
The Rockets will guarantee the total salary of $ 2.3 million for Cousins for the season as a gesture to reward their professionalism and play during their time in Houston, according to sources.
Houston wants a smaller, younger battleground when Christian Wood returns and that allows Cousins to find an opportunity elsewhere, reports Charania.
Cousins, 30, joined Rockets on a one-year contract in December. In 25 games, in which he started 11, the great man averages 9.6 points, 7.6 rebounds and 2.4 assists per game.
The four-time All-Star (2015-2018) has struggled with injuries since the end of his term with the Pelicans, where he suffered an Achilles break in 2018. He joined the Warriors in the 2018-19 season and suffered a broken quadriceps in the game 2 of the first round of the playoffs, but then returned for a brief stint in the finals.
Before joining Houston, Cousins broke the anterior cruciate ligament (ACL) while signing with the Lakers and did not play for the team.
