Michael Cudlitz on learning about Abraham’s fate

With tomorrow marking the return of the AMC’s Living Dead (for AMC + subscribers, February 28 for everyone else) for the first of six episodes set to fill seasons 10 and 11, as well as fill in some post-Rick Grimes gaps (Andrew Lincoln) jump in time, today seems as good a day as any to remember the program’s history – courtesy of TWD alum and director Michael Cudlitz (Abraham Ford). From his debut in season four to his meeting with Saviors leader Negan’s (Jeffrey Dean Morgan) “Lucille”, Abraham was one of the most popular and beloved characters in the series, making his death even more painful (and the reason so many fans want to see Cudlitz return in the next anthology series, Tales of the undead)

At the opening of the seventh season “The day will come when you will not be”, both Abraham and Glenn (Steven Yeun) experienced the wrath of Negan’s blunt retaliation for Rick and the gang’s failed attempt to wipe them out (and don’t tell us about how Norman Reedus‘Daryl caused Glenn’s death). Earlier this week, the Clarice star spoke to Michael Rosenbaum as a guest on your Inside you with Michael Rosenbaum podcast – and while a wide variety of topics were covered, the conversation naturally shifted to its time (and departure) in the long series. In the following clip, Cudlitz takes an interesting and deep dive into a comparison between the comics and the television series before detailing how he found out Abraham was being killed. A highlight that stood out for us because we agree with him 110%? We would love to have seen more scenes between Abraham and Sasha Williams (Sonequa Martin-Green) – and seeing them work together during “All-Out War” would have been amazing “Carol-out-of-prison”.

Here’s your take on The Walking Dead season 10C

Some of the new faces joining the cast of Living Dead include Robert Patrick (Terminator 2: Judgment Day, Perry Mason, Scorpion) such as May, Hilarie Burton Morgan (One Tree Hill, White Collar, Friday Night In with Morgan) like Lucille, Okea Eme-Akwari (Greenland, Cobra Kai), and C. Thomas Howell (The Outsiders, The Hitcher) reprising his role as a resident of Hilltop’s 9th season. The six new episodes will open on Sunday, February 28, at 9 pm ET / 8 pm CT, followed by a new episode of Dead Speakers every week.

Last time on The Walking Dead, we witnessed the fall of Alpha (Samantha Morton) and the end of the Whisperers War. The kingdom had fallen, the hilltop was virtually destroyed, and Alexandria abandoned to prepare for the final battle. Our survivors were arrested and separated from each other. However, when faced with an almost certain death, they came together to fight, killing Beta (Ryan Hurst) and eliminating the horde’s threat.

In these six new episodes, we find our survivors trying to get up by their boots after the destruction that the Whisperers left in their wake. The years of struggle weigh on them as past traumas surface, exposing their most vulnerable sides. When questioning the state of humanity, the state of their collective community and the state of their minds, will they find the inner strength to persevere with their lives, friendships and group intact?

EPISODE 1017 – “Lar Doce Lar”: Maggie (Lauren Cohan) came back with a story she’s not ready to share, even when her past hits her. Negan’s (Jeffrey Dean Morgan) security is at stake again. Daryl (Norman Reedus) and Maggie fight an invisible and unknown threat. Director: David Boyd / Writers: Kevin Deiboldt AND Corey Reed.
