Princess Eugenie and her husband chose a name for their son

Britain’s Princess Eugenie and her husband Jack Brooksbank named their son August Philip Hawke Brooksbank, Buckingham Palace said on Saturday. The baby, a ninth great-grandson of Queen Elizabeth II, was born on February 9 at London’s Portland Hospital.

One of the child’s middle names seems to pay tribute to Eugenie’s grandfather, Prince Philip. The queen’s 99-year-old husband is currently in a hospital in London, where he was admitted on Tuesday after feeling sick.

Eugenie, 30, is the youngest daughter of Prince Andrew and Sarah, Duchess of York and granddaughter of the queen. The baby, who weighed 3.6 kilos, is his first child and is the 11th in line to the British throne.

Eugenie married Brooksbank, a 35-year-old businessman, in October 2018 in St. George’s Chapel at Windsor Castle.

Eugenie posted a photo on Instagram of the couple holding their son, who is wrapped in a blue blanket with a matching cap.

“Thank you for so many wonderful messages. Our hearts are filled with love for this little human, words cannot express ”, she wrote, adding that the photo was taken“ by our wonderful midwife ”.

“Thanks to the wonderful essential workers, including our midwife who came to discharge our son,” she said.
