Timberwolves’ Anthony Edwards launches buried spear of the year

Anthony Edwards may not be leading the Rookie of the Year race after being won first overall by the Minnesota Timberwolves, but he just took over the competition for the dunk of the year.

The T-Wolves rookie unleashed one of the most absurd dunks you’ve ever seen near the end of the third quarter against the Toronto Raptors on Friday, violent enough to ignite social media and unleash a Zapruder-style meltdown from all angles. and possible frames.

It all started with Edwards getting the ball close to the corner and ended with him and Raptor striker Yuta Watanabe both on the ground. In the middle was DeAndre ‘Bembry trying to get the pass to Edwards, poor Watanabe turning to find Edwards in the painting and Edwards tearing down the house:

Somehow, the scene is even more ridiculous as a still life:

And then there’s the slower frame by frame:

And here are just about every possible angle:

We could go on. Edwards head is clearly flush with the edge at one point, and your hangtime doesn’t seem physically possible. It is becoming a kind of habit for a player widely regarded as one of the most athletic players in the 2020 NBA draft.

The best you can say about Watanabe is that he really tried to stop the burial instead of making a business decision, but that didn’t stop his face buried one of the best parts of the picture.

Yes, just a complicated piece. Except …

Ah, well, little footnote.

Unfortunately for the Timberwolves and Edwards, the strength of the dunk did not translate into any extra points. Minnesota ended up losing 86-81, and Edwards’ scoring line was really pretty meaningless with seven points out of 3 out of 14 shots (0 out of 7 deep) with four assists and three rebounds. Not that anyone really cares.
