Free games: here’s what you can download right now

Everyone loves free stuff. This is the best. Whether you play on PlayStation, Xbox or PC, you can usually find some free games to download – although for consoles you usually need a subscription service to get them. (Switch owners can play retro games at no extra cost if they subscribe to Nintendo Switch Online). The only problem is that it can be difficult to keep track of the free games available at any time. We plan to make this easier for you. Whenever there is a free game to download from one of the main online stores, we will highlight it below. All you have to do is come back often to make sure you get the free games you deserve.

Free PC games on the Epic Game Store

For years and years, Steam seemed unstoppable. It was the showcase for PC games. How could a company compete with a power so entrenched? The answer turns out to be: offering tons of high quality games for free.

Anyone with an Epic Games Store account can download at least one free game per week from the online retailer. It is a great privilege and you should enjoy it weekly if you like free games. And who doesn’t?

Other free PC games

The Epic Games Store is not the only online game distributor in the “PC game distribution” area … er, game. Above is a list of other people you can get, if you haven’t already.

Each month, PlayStation Plus subscribers receive a batch of new games that they can keep and play as long as they are PS Plus members. The only problem is that you need to add the games to your account each month, or you will lose the opportunity. See the selection of gifts this month for PS4 and PS5 owners above.

If you are an Xbox Live Gold member (or if you have Game Pass Ultimate, which includes Xbox Live Gold), you will receive free games every month that you can download and play while you are a member. This month’s selection is listed above. But, like free games with PS Plus, you must add them to your account in the month they become available, or you will lose the opportunity to have those games.

Free games with Nintendo Switch Online

Nintendo Switch Online

Free Switch games are more difficult to find. In fact, they almost never happen unless you count the NES and SNES games that Nintendo Switch Online subscribers have access to. That said, no really exciting games have been added in a while, so it’s not as attractive as similar services for PlayStation and Xbox. That said, NSO costs less, so at least that’s something.

Free Amazon Prime Gaming Games

Amazon Prime members get a lot of free PC games every month. Granted, you need to sign up for Prime, which costs money, but if you’re already a member for free shipping or Prime Video, you can also enjoy free games every month.

In addition to free PC games every month, Prime members also receive in-game items in all types of titles, from Destiny 2 and League of Legends to Red Dead Online and Star Wars Squadrons.

Unless you really like indie titles, it’s probably not worth signing up for Prime just to get free games. Prime’s free PC games aren’t usually as big or known as the ones that the Epic Games Store distributes for free. But if you are already a Prime member for many other benefits, there is no reason not to take a look at what is offered each month.
