If you are not connected to all the details about your iPhone, you may not be aware of a very interesting feature. Thanks to the good nerds of TikTok, many are discovering that there is a hidden tool in plain sight: the Apple logo on the back of the phone. Yes, it is a tool / sensor / button.
This Brit Brown ‘tok’ was posted in October 2020 and shows users how to program their apple to perform functions such as taking a screenshot, opening a specific app or locking their screen. It makes sense that the dot is touch-sensitive (Apple products are increasingly glassy and touch-based), but seriously, how did we miss this before? We are literally on our phones all day long live.
Watch the full TikTok below. Did you already know that?
Remember, it’s a double tap, so if your tech-savvy dad is having trouble making this hack work, that could be it.
Brown seems to be demonstrating his tutorial on the iPhone 11, so it’s safe to say that this function will work if you have this version of an iPhone or higher. When Apple launched the iPhone 7, we revealed nine hidden features on the device, so hopefully, everyone can learn something new today. And if you have the latest iOS, why not customize your home screen? (Remember when everyone was doing this a few months ago? There is no time in pandemic times.)
Unfortunately, none of the hacks here or at TikTok addresses the blatantly obvious problem of adding a function to the Apple logo: most people keep their phones in a box. And usually, this box covers the logo. Now, if the company could make a product that wouldn’t break into a million pieces when it fell, what it would really be a resource that we could use.
