Pokémon GO Tour: Kanto FAQ

Answers to common questions about the Pokémon GO Tour: Kanto event. Please check our Kanto Tour Preparation Guide, red versus green version differences and Kanto Tour Events Guide articles if you have any additional questions.


How do I buy a ticket?

Tickets for the Pokémon GO Tour: Kanto are now available on the app store! Tickets cost $ 11.99 plus any applicable taxes and fees (or the equivalent in your local currency). Tickets cannot be purchased with PokéCoins.

  1. In the store, tap on the Pokémon GO Tour: Kanto image.
  2. Touch Purchase button.
  3. You will see a pop-up indicating that you have received a ticket for the Pokémon GO Tour: Kanto.
  4. After touching OK, you can find the ticket in your item bag.
  5. Touching the event ticket in the item bag will open a pop-up allowing you to choose a version.
  6. After confirming your version selection, you will receive a corresponding red / green medal on your profile.

Note: the version selection is final, you cannot change your version once it has been selected.


What do I get with a ticket?

Ticket holders, here’s what you need to know.

  • Version selection: Your adventure will begin after choosing the red or green version of the event. Not sure which one to choose? Check out our blog here for more information on what makes each one unique.
  • Collection challenges: Once you start the event, you will have access to 10 Collection Challenges, which will be available until Sunday, February 28, 2021, at 7:59 pm, local time.
  • Special Research: When you start your Pokémon GO Tour: Kanto adventure, be sure to tap the Special Search icon after Professor Willow appears to claim your new Special Search. After doing this, it can be completed at any time during or after the event.
  • Masterwork Search: After finishing the Pokémon GO Tour: Kanto Special Research, you will have access to a more challenging new type of research: Masterwork Research! The Masterwork Survey was designed to be completed over a long period of time, and the first story – All-in-One # 151 – will result in a meeting with Shiny Mew!
  • Free Items: Be sure to claim the free item packs in the store to give your adventure a boost! These item packs are included in your ticket and will award three remote attack passes and 200 Poké Balls.
  • Daily Extra Raid Passes: Claim up to nine daily Raid Passes during event hours.
  • Incense: Incense will attract Pokémon with an exclusive version during the event, so be sure to use it!
  • Social media: Share photos on Twitter or Instagram using #PokemonGOTour, and you can see them featured in the app during the event!

What if I don’t have a ticket?

No ticket? No problems!

All trainers will be able to enjoy the following during the Pokémon GO Tour: Kanto event.

  • The Trainer characters featured will appear as GO Tour Challengers during the event. Find them and face them on PokéStops to complete the exclusive Timed Search for events and earn rewards!
  • Evolve a certain Pokémon during the event to obtain a Pokémon that knows an exclusive attack.
  • Evolve Ivysaur – the Evolution of Bulbasaur – to obtain a Venusaur who knows Frenzy Plant.
  • Evolve Wartortle – Squirtle Evolution – to get a Blastoise that knows Hydro Cannon.
  • Evolve Charmeleon – the evolution of Charmander – to obtain a Charizard that knows Blast Burn.
  • Hours of event with the theme of Pokémon Red and Pokémon Green games will take place during the event. Check the schedule here.
  • Increase the audio! Each hour with a local theme will feature music inspired by Pokémon Red and Pokémon Green, created by the original composer of these games, Junichi Masuda!

Do I need to choose a version? How do I select it?

What is the difference between the red version and the green version?

Each version has a unique Pokémon set (based on the original games). In addition, each version has a greater chance of finding the shiny shapes of certain Pokémon. I selected the red version, can I switch to the green version (or vice versa)?

No, after confirming your version selection, the version of your ticket cannot be changed: choose carefully!


Why does my GO Tour medal on the app say “02.21”?

The date format shown in the medals in the app is Month yearand does not include the day. The day 21/02 shown in his medal refers to February 2021.


Do I need to leave home to participate in the GO Tour?

No, this event is designed to be played at home, if necessary. To have the best experience possible, we recommend playing at a local park or similar area; however, it is very important that you follow your local health guidelines.


Do I need to be able to negotiate to complete the survey?

No, you will not need to negotiate to complete the Special Survey. However, as only a few Pokémon are available on each path, you will need to switch to complete some of the collection challenges and collect the first 150 Pokémon originally discovered in the Kanto region. To help with this, we increased the limit of exchange distance to 40 km during the event.


Do I need to collect all 150 Pokémon to complete the Special Survey / end the event / etc.?

No. Each Collection Challenge you complete will earn rewards and progress with your Elite Collector badge, but you don’t need to do that to experience all the content on the Pokémon GO Tour.


Will all 150 Pokémon appear in each version?

There are exclusive Pokémon versions that will not be available to all ticket holders, but otherwise, everyone will have the same event experience. Note that the evolved forms will not appear in the wild during the event.


How can I find a specific Pokémon?

See below how to find Pokémon during the GO Tour: Kanto event schedule. These Pokémon will appear in the wild and will be attracted to Incense during local time:

  • Pallet Town: Bulbasaur, Charmander, Squirtle, Caterpie, Weedle, Pidgey, Rattata, Spearow, Pikachu and Zubat
  • Pewter City: Nidoran-f, Nidoran-m, Clefairy, Paras, Diglett, Geodude, Magnemite, Onix, Voltorb and Rhyhorn
  • Cerulean City: Jigglypuff, Psyduck, Poliwag, Tentacool, Shellder, Krabby, Horsea, Goldeen, Staryu and Magikarp
  • Fuchsia City: Venonat, Abra, Ponyta, Grimer, Gastly, Drowzee, Exeggcute, Koffing, Omanyte and Kabuto
  • Pokémon League: Machop, Slowpoke, Doduo, Seel, Hitmonlee, Hitmonchan, Jynx, Eevee, Porygon and Dratini

These Pokémon will not appear in the wild during the event, see below for how to find them:

  • Farfetch’d, Kangaskhan, Mr Mime, Tauros, Articuno, Zapdos, Moltres and Mewtwo will be appearing in Raids.
  • Cubone, Lickitung, Chansey, Tangela, Lapras, Ditto, Aerodactyl and Snorlax will appear as reward meetings GO Tour: Special Kanto research tasks.
  • If you select Red Version these Pokémon will be attracted to Incense during the event: Ekans, Oddish, Mankey, Growlithe, Scyther and Electabuzz.
  • If you select Green Version these Pokémon will be attracted to Incense during the event: Sandshrew, Vulpix, Meowth, Bellsprout, Magmar and Pinsir.
  • Cubone, Lickitung, Chansey, Tangela, Lapras, Ditto, Aerodactyl and Snorlax will appear as GO Tour reward meetings: Kanto Special search tasks.
  • In addition: Lickitung, Chansey, Tangela, Lapras and Aerodactyl will be appearing rarely in the jungle throughout the event (not linked to a specific time). If you’re lucky, you can find a Snorlax in nature too!

What is the event schedule? / When will a specific time take place with a local theme?

Location-themed schedules will alternate throughout the day. The event schedule (local time) is described below:

First block

  • 9:00 am to 10:00 am – Pallet Town
  • 10:00 am to 11:00 am – Pewter City
  • 11:00 am to 12:00 pm – Cerulean City
  • 12:00 to 13:00 – Fuchsia City
  • 1:00 pm to 2:00 pm – Pokémon League

Second block

  • 2:00 pm to 3:00 pm – Pallet Town
  • 3:00 pm to 4:00 pm – Pewter City
  • 4:00 pm to 5:00 pm – Cerulean City
  • 5:00 pm to 6:00 pm – Fuchsia City
  • 6:00 pm to 7:00 pm – Pokémon League

Last block

  • 7:00 pm to 9:00 pm – Pokémon from all previous hours will be appearing in the jungle

Do I need to finish Special Search or Masterwork Search within a time limit to find Shiny Mew?

No, there is no deadline to complete the GO Tour: Kanto Special Research or the Masterwork Research acquired after the completion of Special Research. The Masterwork Survey must be completed over a long period of time, so take as long as necessary.


How much time do I have to complete the Collection Challenges?

All ten GO Tour: Kanto Collection Challenges will be open until Sunday, February 28, 2021, at 7:59 pm in your local time zone. With the exception of Evolve & Trade challenges, we recommend working to complete them during the event itself.


How can I collect enough sweets to complete the Evolve Collection Challenge?

Pokémon captured during the hours of the GO Tour event will reward extra Candy. You will be able to collect Candy for the exclusive version of Pokémon not included in your version in two different ways: 1) exchange with a friend 2) complete Field Research tasks exclusive to events.


What if I have no one to negotiate with during the event?

It will not be possible to complete the “Exchange” Collection Challenge without a business partner, but you will have until Sunday, February 28, 2021, at 7:59 pm in your local time zone to work on completing all GO Tour Collection Challenges.


What if I buy a ticket but can only play for part of the time? What if I don’t complete special research missions during the period?

If you buy a ticket, we encourage you to play as long as you can to enjoy the various bonuses activated during this time! The duration is fixed and will not change depending on when you log in. We recommend buying a ticket in advance to make the most of the bonuses.

Players with tickets will still be able to access the Special Survey after it is finished, as long as they sign up and perform an action on the game during the period (Saturday, February 20, 2021, from 9:00 am to 9:00 pm local time) to collect the Special Research.

There will be no change in rewards and there is no time limit to complete it, but the Special Survey must have been collected during the period.


I don’t want to buy a ticket, can I still participate in the event?

Yea! These resources will be available to all coaches during the event, even if you do not buy a ticket:

  • Some Pokémon originally discovered in the Kanto region will appear in the jungle and in invasions.
  • Articuno, Zapdos, Moltres and Mewtwo will return for Legendary Raids! Check the details on the official blog of the Special Movements presented.
  • All instructors will be able to access the exclusive Timed Search for the event.
  • Commercial range will be increased to 40 km.

What is the GO Tour timed survey?

Timed Search is part of the free event experience and is available to all coaches (with or without a ticket) during the event hours. Work to complete it and earn rewards for finding and fighting GO Tour Challengers on PokéStops. Follow your local health and safety guidelines.


How can I get a refund?

Pokémon GO Tour: Tickets for Kanto are non-refundable. * * Subject to applicable law and exceptions set out in the Terms of Service.
