After canceling BlizzCon 2020 due to the pandemic, Blizzard is back – earlier than usual this year – for BlizzCon 2021. In fact, Blizzard is calling it “BlizzConline 2021”. Expect to hear updates on expected titles, including Diablo IV, Overwatch 2, World of Warcraft, Hearthstone, and maybe a peek at the rumor Diablo 2 remaster.
Blizzard’s parent company Activision announced during a recent earnings call that both Diablo 4 and Overwatch 2 would not see a 2021 version. And while that is disappointing, there will probably be some news about the games released this year. A likely candidate is the Diablo Immortal game for iOS and Android phones, which my colleague Andrew Webster experienced in practice.
If you want to attend the festivities (which should still be quite festive, even if they aren’t packed with personal cosplays), here’s how.
When is BlizzCon 2021 happening?
BlizzCon will begin with the usual opening ceremony at 5 pm ET / 2 pm PT on Friday, February 19, and is scheduled to last an hour and 10 minutes. Since then, the convention has been divided into five different broadcasts, each focusing on a different game. Here is the complete schedule. All broadcasts are scheduled to end at 8:40 pm ET / 5:40 pm PT. If you are looking for news about games, it will probably happen on the first day.
However, it will restart on Saturday, February 20, at 3 pm ET / 12 pm PT. The second day’s schedule consists of question and answer sessions, community presentations and additional entertainment, as a Diablo table campaign hosted by Critical role technical team.
Does it cost anything to participate in BlizzCon 2021?
No. Participation is free, unlike BlizzCon’s previous face-to-face events that required tickets. If you want some of the goodies that usually come with a ticket, you can buy a BlizzCon package with in-game items and cosmetics right here.
Where can I watch BlizzCon 2021?
Blizzard is hosting its convention online at BlizzCon.com, or through Battle.net, the Activision Blizzard game launcher for desktop and mobile. It will also be broadcast live from YouTube and Twitch.
