Prince Philip does not receive visits at the hospital when he enters the third night – “Good sign!” | Royal | News

The duke was admitted to King Edward VII’s hospital in central London on Tuesday as a precautionary measure. Since Philip is in the hospital for a third night, there were no plans for family members to visit him.

Although hospitalized patients are currently unable to receive visitors, except in exceptional circumstances due to the pandemic, Penny Junor believes that this implies that there is no reason to be concerned about Philip’s stay in the hospital.

She said: “The fact [the family is] it is not a good sign. I see this as very optimistic. “

Ms. Junor also said that the Royal Family tends to “minimize these things and continue with their business”.

But if there was cause for concern for Philip, “the Queen would definitely find a way to get there, and probably Prince Charles too.”

In December 2019, Philip was also admitted to King Edward VII Hospital as a “precautionary measure” for a “pre-existing condition”.

Ms. Junor also told the BBC that Philip is a “practical man” who will not be an ideal patient.

She added: “I think he can be quite direct and if he felt that people were bothering him, he could be quite frank.

“This is a man who doesn’t want to splurge because of his 100th birthday [on June 10], so the fact that he is in the hospital and making noise will really irritate him. “

The Times reported that a doctor was called in after Philip felt ill for a short while, where he was driven to the hospital by car and entered without assistance, as a non-emergency admission.

Buckingham Palace issued a statement on Tuesday confirming that the duke was admitted to the hospital and said: “His Royal Highness, the Duke of Edinburgh, was admitted to King Edward VII Hospital in London on Tuesday night.

“The admission of the duke is a precautionary measure, on the advice of His Royal Highness’s doctor, after feeling ill.

“The duke must remain in the hospital for a few days of observation and rest.”

After Philip was admitted to the hospital in 2019, former Buckingham Palace doctor Anna Hemming shared how Philip remained in good shape at 99.

She said in 2020: “Prince Philip retired a few years ago and, in doing so, can lead a more relaxed daily life.”

Citing her athletic past, she added: “Sport has its benefits in keeping your body and mind active.

“When it comes to retiring from sport, interest in sports helps to stimulate your mind.

“Staying active both physically and mentally plays a very important role in maintaining a healthy and continuous quality of life.”
