Stocks gain as Deere improves prospects, Yellen calls for coronavirus relief

US stock markets rebounded on Friday after Treasury Secretary Janet Yellen asked Congress to deliver a “big package” for relief from COVID-19.

“I think the price of doing very little is much higher than the price of doing something big,” Yellen told CNBC’s Closing Bell on Thursday. “We think the benefits will far outweigh the costs in the long run.”

Looking at inventories, Deere & Co. raised its 2021 outlook to earnings and revenue amid increased demand for its agricultural and construction machinery, which is expected to see sales grow 15% to 20% in the US and Canada, compared to 5% to 10% growth previously.
