Two Florida residents tried to get a second dose of the Covid-19 vaccine by dressing like elderly women

The women came to the vaccination site wearing caps, gloves and glasses in an attempt to receive the vaccines, said Dr. Raul Pino at a news conference. According to the sheriff’s office, the women were 44 and 34 years old.

CNN reached out to women for comment.

Both women had valid vaccination cards for their first injection, Pino said. They were denied a second chance while they were dressed due to problems with their ID cards. Health officials did not know how women managed to get their first vaccines and whether they also dressed.

The department has increased security at the site, Pino said.

“This is the hottest commodity that exists at the moment,” said Pino. “We have to be very careful with the funds and resources that are provided to us.”

The Orange County Sheriff’s Office confirmed to CNN that it was summoned by health officials to issue invasion notices to women, as their birth dates did not match those they had used to register for vaccines, although the names did.

The sheriff’s office had no additional information about the incident, including whether the women were wearing disguises or how they were dressed.

Florida is currently prioritizing adults aged 65 and over, residents and long-term care teams and healthcare professionals with direct contact with the patient for the vaccine.

The state has been one of many that delayed shipments of vaccine doses due to severe winter storms in the United States.
