Taylor Swift’s new ‘love story’: radio, sales and streams so far

Airplay update: As for radio broadcasting in its first six days, “Love Story (Taylor’s Version)” attracted more than 350 plays on stations reporting Advertising panelin the chart of radio songs of all genres, based on the audience, a sum that translates into almost 1.7 million audience impressions. Leading these moves, more than 240 were reporters from the Pop Airplay chart, led by 45 on SiriusXM’s Hits 1 channel. Adult reporters from Pop Airplay followed, giving the song more than 80 spins in that period.

How does this play compare to the 2008 version? The original attracted a few more executions by Radio Songs reporters in that six-day period: almost 400. Panelists from contemporary adult charts led with more than 180 pieces, followed by reporters from Country Airplay (70) and Adult Pop Airplay (50) .

In general, the daily reproductions of the original were constant throughout the month. The song had between 46 and 81 daily plays from February 1 to 11, compared with 44 to 92 plays from February 12 to 17.

As the daily analysis above reflects, the new version of “Love Story” boasts the highest total of one day between the two, unsurprisingly on its first day of release. Meanwhile, the 2008 original kept daily performances quite stable, having been an established success that is now in regular rotation among the greatest songs of its time.

Notably, the new version of the song is not being actively promoted to the radio. Instead, three tracks continue to be promoted to various formats from Swift’s last LP, Ever. The “Willow” set rose 9-8 on the most recently published Adult Airplay and Adult Pop charts (dated February 20) and 20-17 on Pop Airplay. Meanwhile, the album “Coney Island”, with The National, went up 26-21 on Adult Alternative Airplay; a week earlier, “No Body, No Crime”, with Haim, remained in 60th place in Country Airplay.

The original “Love Story” reached second place on radio songs (and fourth on the Billboard Hot 100 of all genres). She led Country Airplay and Pop Airplay and remains the only song to top both lists. He also crowned AC and moved up to 3rd place in Adult Pop Airplay.

Sales update: “Love Story (Taylor’s Version)” sold 24,300 downloads in the United States as of February 17, according to initial reports from MRC Data. Of that amount, 18,900 came on its first launch day, Friday, February 12th. It was previously reported (on Saturday, February 13) that the song had sold 10,000 on February 12, based on initial reports. Since this story was published, more sales were reported on Friday, bringing the total of the song that day to 18,900.

As for the original “Love Story”, it sold 700 downloads between February 12th and 17th.

Streaming update: Between February 12 and 16, “Love Story (Taylor’s Version)” collected 10.21 million audio streams on demand in the United States, according to initial reports from MRC Data. 4.70 million of that amount came on the day the track was released, February 12th.

The original “Love Story” captured 667,000 audio streams on-demand on February 12 – more than twice the number of streams that the song managed daily between February 5 and 10. On February 11, in the wake of Swift’s news announcing the re-recording, the streams of the original song increased to 504,000 (from 290,000 on February 10).
