Dr. Anthony Fauci, a White House health consultant, recently updated the schedule for when all Americans will have access to a COVID-19 vaccine.
Fauci said it will probably be sometime between mid-May and early June, when most Americans will be able to get the vaccine, according to CNBC. Fauci had already suggested that late March to early April would be the time when all Americans could get the vaccine.
- The decision to postpone came when Johnson & Johnson changed its supply estimates for its new vaccine, which is still awaiting emergency use approval from the Food and Drug Administration, according to CNBC.
Previous timeline
In early February, Fauci told the “Today” program that the distribution of the vaccine will increase. He said people will have a chance to get the COVID-19 vaccine in April, as I wrote for Deseret News.
- “It will be realized … what will happen when we arrive in March and April, the number of doses available will allow for much more of a mass vaccination approach that is actually much more accelerated than what you are seeing now.”
- He continued: “If you look at the projection, I imagine that, when we get to April, that would be what I call, for better formulation, ‘public bidding’. That is, practically everyone and anyone in any category can start getting vaccinated. “
Look at Christmas
President Joe Biden said Tuesday night at an event at CNN’s city hall that the United States will see a return to normal at Christmas time.
