Nintendo is known for bringing surprises, but few could have predicted this announcement. After three decades of Japanese exclusivity, Nintendo is finally launching Famicom Detective Club: The Missing Herir and Famicom Detective Club: the girl left behind in the west. As the names suggest, they were originally launched on Famicom, which is better known as the NES for Western audiences.
Confirmed by Direct today, Nintendo released this public relations statement shortly after:
Famicom Detective Club: The Missing Heir / Famicom Detective Club: The Girl Who Stands Behind: Two deep versions of Nintendo from Japan are arriving in Europe for the first time, located with English text and fully modernized for Nintendo Switch. Twists, turns and drama await at every corner in these two suspenseful games. Discover the deadly truth in Famicom Detective Club: The Missing Heir and Famicom Detective Club: The Girl Who Stands Behind, coming to Nintendo eShop as a package on May 14. Game pre-orders now start on the Nintendo eShop on the Nintendo Switch.
Both games are being remade by Mages developers, which was previously announced in 2019. Faithfully recreating these original 8-bit adventures, both will arrive on May 14 for the Switch eShop, available separately or bundled.
