Colorado is among the states that had to postpone vaccination because of the storm’s impact on a Tennessee distribution center, officials said.
“The Colorado Department of Public Health and Environment is working with Colorado health care providers and local public health agencies across the state to make adjustments in the coming days to ensure that appointments and clinics do not need to be canceled,” a press release from the reading state.
Before the President’s Day weekend, Colorado requested and received the doses scheduled for this week on Friday, but the allocation of 133,000 state vaccines scheduled to arrive on Tuesday, Wednesday and Thursday will be affected.
“This decision helps us to have sufficient availability to work with providers to move doses and avoid cancellations,” said the statement.
Florida
Approximately 2,000 people in Miami-Dade County will not receive their second scheduled dose due to weather-related supply delays, according to Rachel Johnson, director of communications for the mayor’s office.
The second doses of the Pfizer vaccine that were scheduled to be administered on Thursday did not arrive, Johnson told CNN.
All those affected were notified of the delay, Johnson said, and were told that as soon as the vaccine arrives, their appointment will be rescheduled.

The Georgia Department of Public Health has received notification from the Centers for Disease Control and Prevention that Pfizer and Moderna vaccines scheduled to arrive earlier this week would be delayed by manufacturers due to the harsh winter, DPH said in a press release. .

In Chicago, all vaccination sites administered by the city were closed on Tuesday because of the winter weather and appointments will be rescheduled, city officials said.
The Cook County health care system, which includes the Chicago suburbs, told CNN that all of its vaccination sites would be closed, except three that the system operates within city limits.
The postponements came after Covid-19 shipments arriving in the area were delayed when more than a foot of snow fell between Sunday night and Tuesday morning, the Chicago Department of Public Health said.
Before winter and harsh road conditions, Illinois ordered the Covid-19 vaccine to be delivered to its “strategic national receiving, storage and stock location,” according to a state press release.
The state also said it was told by the federal government that it is expected to anticipate delays in delivering the vaccine this week because of winter storms, the statement said.
Kentucky
The weather will cause some delays in vaccination in the state, Governor Andy Beshear said Monday night. He said he hopes the state will be able to make up for any postponement next week after the last time has passed.
