Netflix is launching an anime series ‘Dota 2’ in March

Netflix is preparing for the global launch of a new anime series based on Valve’s online multiplayer battle arena game Dota 2. The 8-episode series is entitled Dota: dragon’s blood and is scheduled to be available for broadcast worldwide on March 25.

It will tell the story of a Dragon Knight – durable hand-to-hand heroes equipped with swords and shields in the game – named Davion who is “dedicated to wiping the scourge off the face of the world.” On his travels, Davion meets an ancient eldwurm (a race of dragons) and the noble princess Mirana. As with epic tales like this, Davion is involved in events much bigger than he expected.

Dragon blood was developed under the leadership of showrunner Ashley Edward Miller, a screenwriter and producer who previously worked on X-Men: First Class, Thor and Terminator: The Sarah Connor Chronicles. It was designed and animated by Studio MIR, known for The legend of Korra and Netflix Voltron: legendary defender, which features works of art in the style of the 80s, similar to the original Voltron.

Miller said in a statement:

“Fans will love how we imagine the DOTA 2 universe and weave an epic, emotional, adult-oriented story about some of their favorite characters. Cinematic animation, acting and music are simply the next level and I am grateful to Valve for supporting our ambitions. creative. “

Valve released Dota 2 in 2013 as a sequence of Defense of the ancients, a MOBA mod for Blizzard’s Warcraft III: Reign of Chaos. It hasn’t become as popular as it has in recent years, but Valve hopes to keep players interested by releasing hero updates throughout the year, rather than bringing them all together in one big release.
