LIVE UPDATES: Andrew Cuomo criticized by “The Daily Show” host for the nursing home scandal

Trevor Noah protested Governor Andrew Cuomo for his administration’s handling of data around COVID-19 in nursing homes in a recent episode of “The Daily Show”.

It was recently revealed that the governor’s office may have underestimated the number of coronavirus deaths in nursing homes by more than 50%, according to a report by New York Attorney General Letitia James.

QUICK FACTS

    • Most New Yorkers disapprove of Cuomo’s treatment when reporting deaths in nursing homes.
    • Cuomo said his team chose to prioritize the federal inquiry and informed state lawmakers that their request for data would be “paused” in the meantime.

And one of the biggest bombs came on Thursday night, when the New York Post revealed that Cuomo’s top aide, Melissa DeRosa, admitted during a conference call with Democratic leaders that the government hid unfavorable information about the deaths of the home COVID-19 senior citizens in the state out of concern that it “would be used against us”.

“Wow, really, Governor Cuomo?” Noah asked during the episode. “Did you download your own numbers to get better?”
