The Nintendo Switch has been in people’s homes for almost four years, but it looks like the hybrid console may still have a strange trick up its sleeve that many owners have yet to discover.
On the Nintendo Switch subreddit, the user of the antglyforreal website shared a quick fact about the console’s battery indicator that can be viewed in the home menu. This is hardly a revelation and will not necessarily change the way you use your console, but with so many Switch owners apparently unaware that the feature existed, the post was shot to the top of the subreddit with over 6,000 positive votes.
So, what exactly is this feature? Well, first of all, you need to understand that there are two options for the battery display, and this can be changed in the system settings. One option displays a percentage of the battery next to the battery icon, while the other turns off for simplicity.
If you choose to turn off the screen, it would make sense to assume that you can never see the exact percentage without going to the settings and turning it back on. But, like antglyforreal notes, kneading the ZL and ZR buttons makes the system display the percentage for a short period of time, which means that you can check it whenever you want without having to keep the number on the home screen permanently.

As you can see, the percentage appears in a place other than normal, just above the battery indicator. It may not be the most exciting feature in the Switch arsenal, but we dare say there are a lot of people out there who had no idea it was possible – nowhere in the console settings is the feature mentioned, so why would anyone try?
