New panel sheds light on the launch of the COVID-19 vaccine in Georgia

The state has started publishing a new and much more detailed online vaccine panel. The panel, posted on the Georgia Department of Public Health website, divides vaccine numbers for each county and state.

Monday night’s post shows 1,445,835 shots fired in Georgia. More than 1 million people have received at least one dose and more than 400,000 are fully vaccinated. According to the panel, 74% of the nearly 2 million doses sent to Georgia were administered.

Small Miller County, in southwest Georgia, has the highest number of vaccinations in the state per 100,000 residents, with 36.5% of residents receiving at least one injection and 21.4% receiving two.

On the other hand, in the vicinity of Chattahoochee County, Columbus, there is the lowest percentage of people who received an injection, 1.1%. Newton County has the lowest number of complete vaccines, with only 0.1% of residents receiving both vaccines.

Among the major counties in the metropolitan area, Fulton leads with 13.6% of its residents receiving at least one vaccine and 6.5% being fully vaccinated. Cobb comes next with 9.1% and 4.1%, followed by DeKalb with 7.7% and 3.4%, and then Gwinnett back with 4.8% and 1.4%.
