PSO ended with blackouts on Monday

The PSO says it will not need to start more blackouts on Monday and is asking customers to do their best to reduce energy consumption.

According to PSO’s Stan Whiteford, The Southwest Power Pool told them that they don’t need to cut another group’s power at this time.

PSO said that the extreme cold that continues throughout the week, the energy supply may be more restricted. They said they will make every effort to give advance notice if there is a need for a power outage.

PSO Oklahoma and OG&E started rolling out blackouts around 1:45 on Monday after the Southwest Power Pool issued a Level 3 Energy Emergency Alert, which is the highest alert level. According to The Southwest Power Pool website, he “manages the grid in 17 states in the central and western United States and provides contract-based energy services to customers,” which includes Oklahoma.

The SPP has since reversed the alert to Level 2.
