Critics classify Sia’s film as “Music” less than “cats”

In one of Sia’s many bad takes on her extremely problematic film Song, the director / singer told everyone to wait until the release to form an “adequate” opinion, as if the cast, the trailer and her responses were not enough reason to throw this production in the trash.

I covered your terrible response here.

And how she convinced young actress Maddie Ziegler to play the part, even though Maddie felt uncomfortable doing it (Sia failed that girl so much).

And why you don’t need to see the film to form an “adequate” opinion if you are already discouraged with the trailer.

But for the sake of this article, let’s say that some people really want to see it for themselves, despite the warning signs that come up whenever you mention this movie. Well, this is where they are, according to critics:

This film is so bad that it is worse than Cats. Not the musical, no, the 2019 film. You know which one.

I’m not kidding.

(And yes, it has decreased a percentage in the past two days.)

I feel like I don’t have to explain the type of achievement that was unlocked with that kind of distinction.

Did anyone check with the Golden Globes committee?

Are they okay after this news?

Here’s what the film’s critical consensus is courtesy of Rotten Tomatoes:

Offensive in his description of autism – and painfully wrong in just about every aspect – Song it is a vanity project that begs to be rejected.

And here’s an entire topic that looks at all the problems with the film from an autistic perspective (I should also note that some of the criticisms of Rotten Tomatoes are also from autistic critics):

I hear. I would prefer that the film didn’t even exist, but since we can’t have good things, my next hope was that Sia would actually hear the feedback and make changes instead of … um … this:

So, I hoped, with that unwarranted Golden Globe “we clearly did zero point zero percent research on this film because if we did we would know it was a bad look” nomination, followed by an infinite number of apologies, which Sia AT LEAST would good at its promise to add warning labels to the restriction scenes before removing them entirely from future releases.

You already know where I’m going with this:

Now you must be wondering when Sia said she would add a warning to the restriction scenes / remove them? Well, it turns out she tweeted about it … and deleted Twitter. Don’t worry, I got you, the tweets are in this Variety article.

Therefore, as nothing on my wish list for this film has happened, I am delighted that the film is universally criticized to the point that THIS is seen as a better time:

This is exactly what should happen, because there is absolutely no excuse for Song be as insensitive as you are. Sia had every opportunity to do the right thing Song but he chose to convince a child to a role that completely dispenses with the community on which he is based. Now that the film has been released, I am happy to watch critics hammer in the fact that it is not, and never has been, to begin with.

I usually roll my eyes when a celebrity gets nervous and runs away, but Sia wasn’t offering anything of value with that. Each response was terrible and only served to hurt the autistic community, taking home the fact that she didn’t really care and just wanted to do a musical (which she could have done WITHOUT her representation of autism). She gave people every reason not to support this film, even the abysmal critical scores.

I hope everyone will use it as an example of what happens when you cover your ears with your hands to block honest feedback from the community you are supposed to be trying to represent.

Honestly? She can just stay out of Twitter and never direct a movie again.
