An “extremely dangerous” tornado hit several homes in Damascus, Georgia on Monday.
According to a tornado confirmed by radar and the wreck signature from the Tallahassee, Fla. Office of the National Weather Service, the tornado landed northeast of Damascus at around 4:45 pm on Monday.

A storm report transmitted to the National Weather Service by an emergency mananger noted that there was at least one injury, as well as “significant” damage to a double-width mobile home and damage to a single-family home.
The agency retweeted several photos of witness damage firsthand.

In an update at 6:30 pm, NWS Tallahassee said conditions were “slowly improving across the area”, but that there is still the possibility of a tornado or severe storm in certain areas. A tornado alert is in effect for those areas until 10 pm on Monday.
“However, as soon as the main line is crossed, the main threat of storms passes,” added the agency.
