MADISON, Wisconsin – UW Health warned that just because a person received both doses of the vaccine does not mean it is safe to see them.
The vaccine maintains the safety of those who have it, but it does not mean that the vaccinees are not carriers.
UW Health’s senior medical director, Dr. Matt Anderson, said experts are not sure whether the people who had the injection are able to infect others with the virus.
“What we don’t know at the moment is whether these individuals can be exposed and still carry the virus and potentially pass it on to others. What could have a negative impact of, one, infecting and making other people sick, or two, making that individual who gets sick take him to other people and contribute to a wider dissemination of the community ”, said Dr. Anderson .
Even after receiving both injections, a small number of people can still get sick. If you have not had vaccinations, but have chosen to visit someone who has been vaccinated, it is important to stay socially aloof and wear a mask.
Dr. Anderson said: “Don’t just think about yourself, think about the individual you are visiting, but also about the community at large. And thinking about how we continue to take precautions to keep the community spread ”.
