One of the additions to the South Carolina transfer portal has already become head coach Shane Beamerthe head of.
Georgia State out of linebacker transfer Jordan Strachan, who led all college football in bags in 2020, quickly changed his body on strength coach Luke Day’s first year program.
“The guy came here a month ago and has already put on 17 pounds,” Beamer recently told Andy Staples of The Athletic on your podcast. “I can’t wait to see this guy play this season.”
Strachan was listed with 225 pounds on the Georgia state list last season and 2020 pounds when he first arrived in Columbia. He set the program record with 10.5 sacks and 14 tackles for defeat in 10 games played last year. The Georgia state defense set a school record of 35 bags, the seventh highest in the FBS level.
“He led the nation in bags; not your conference, not the team, the nation in bags, ”said Beamer on National Signature Day. “What a story. He was a 85-pound high school senior who walked the state of Georgia and, a few years later, led the entire country in bags.

Strachan is listed as an “EDGE” player on South Carolina’s 2021 list, placing him in the group of the team’s most talented players.
