What to do if your vaccination appointment is canceled because of the Alabama winter storm

Several Alabama hospitals will close their vaccination clinics on Monday due to the threat of a winter storm, but appointments will be rescheduled.

Twenty-nine county health departments are also closed on Monday, and their vaccine clinics are also being rescheduled.

DCH Health System’s The remote vaccination site in Tuscaloosa will be closed on Monday. Anyone who has an appointment will be automatically rescheduled to the same time on Saturday, February 20th. The DCH says its vaccination team will try to email patients with an appointment, but since it is a manual process, they may not reach everyone in time.

At the moment, the DCH is not changing Tuesday’s vaccination commitments.

“We will assess the weather tomorrow and determine if any changes need to be made by Tuesday,” said the DCH post and email on Facebook. “An announcement about Tuesday will be made tomorrow.”

Athens-Limestone Hospital The COVID vaccine clinic will be closed Monday and Tuesday.

Everyone with an appointment will be called and rescheduled as soon as possible, the hospital’s press release said.

“We ask that you avoid calling the hospital so that our scheduling team can dedicate your time to reschedule all appointments,” the statement said. “People who are scheduled to receive a 2nd dose will receive priority programming to ensure they are within the vaccination window.”

Huntsville Hospital Community Vaccination Clinic at John Hunt Park it will be closed on Monday. All appointments scheduled for Monday are rescheduled for Wednesday, February 17. “There is no need to call the hospital to reschedule,” says the website.

Other closings include the Breast Center, Cardiac Rehabilitation, Congestive Heart Failure Clinic, Heart Center, Imaging Services, Laboratory Patient Service Centers and Pediatric Therapy. Check the website for more information.

Cullman Regional Medical Center: “Due to the threat of bad weather, the COVID-19 vaccine clinic scheduled for Monday, February 15, has been canceled. Anyone scheduled to receive their first dose of the vaccine is transferred to Friday, February 19, at the same time originally scheduled. Anyone with the second dose of the scheduled vaccine can come on Wednesday or Friday, from 8 am to 2 pm. Our team is calling all patients with appointments to confirm this appointment. UAB Public relations released this statement on Sunday: “UAB continues to monitor weather forecasts and does NOT anticipate the closure of universities or clinics on Monday. However, due to weather conditions, outdoor vaccination sites at Parker High School and Hoover Met will be closed on Monday (appointments will be rescheduled for the end of the week).

County health departments they are also closing in the northern, central west and part of the southwest public health districts.

The list includes the following counties:

Northern District: Cullman, Colbert, Franklin, Jackson, Lawrence, Limestone, Lauderdale, Madison, Marion, Marshall, Morgan and Winston

Midwest District: Bibb, Chilton, Fayette, Greene, Hale, Lamar, Perry, Pickens, Sumter, Tuscaloosa and Walker

Southwest District: Choctaw, Clarke, Dallas, Marengo, Washington and Wilcox

All COVID-19 vaccination clinics scheduled for Monday in municipalities located in the Midwest District will be moved to Saturday. The appointment time will remain the same on the new date. People scheduled for booster shots at Northern District county locations will be seen in the next two weeks.

A drive-through vaccine clinic in the Choctaw County Health Department and a vaccine clinic in the Marengo County Health Department planned for Monday have been canceled and will be rescheduled later. The Centers for Disease Control and Prevention (CDC) claim that if there is a delay in the normal schedule for receiving a second dose of the COVID-19 vaccine, the Pfizer-BioNTech and Moderna COVID-19 vaccines can be administered in up to six weeks – – or 42 days – after the first dose.

The Alabama Department of Public Health is guaranteeing the opportunity for people to receive their second dose in the next two weeks, including extending the clinic hours as staff availability permits.
