- As tempting as it is to swim in large expanses of water, it is important to note that swimming depletes your resistance and, if you run out of energy, you will begin to suffer damage and will eventually die from drowning.
- There is no easy way to train your skills, as the level will simply increase as you perform the skill.
- Want to make beautiful screenshots? Remove the HUD by pressing Ctrl + F3.
- Flint is one of the most important items you need during the early game experience, but where can you find it? You can find Flint combing the edges of the various bodies of water you will find in the Valheim biomes. Flint is white / gray and takes on a rectangular shape.
- Consider creating a shield, as it will play an important role in your survival, as it is easy to be surrounded by enemies.
- If you want to succeed in Valheim, you need to learn how to dodge enemies correctly.

- Although there is no exact benefit to sheathing your weapon, you can carry it on your back by pressing R on your keyboard.
Start gathering supplies immediately
Gathering supplies at the start can be a little daunting, especially when you don’t have tools, but don’t be afraid, you’ll be able to join wood and stone quite easily.
To gather wood, just punch small trees or look for fallen branches to get wood. To collect stones, look for small black stones that can be found throughout the soil.
Make the most of map markers
Never get lost or lost sight of a dungeon that you were not ready to explore!
To place map markers, simply open the world map by pressing M on the keyboard. After opening the map, just click on one of the five different icons that can be found in the bottom right corner. Build a bed and fire to create a spawning point
Now that you’ve built the foundations for your new base, it’s time to officially call this place home, defining the base as your spawning point for when you recharge the world or, unfortunately, meet your death.
Fortunately, creating a spawning point is easy, as all you need to do is simply build a bed and a fire. After building and placing these items on their base, sleep on the bed to create a new spawning point.Unfortunately, you can only have one spawning point at the moment, so if you have multiple bases set up, be sure to choose wisely. In addition, the bed will also be a great way to avoid dark and tiring nights.
There is no repair cost, so keep your equipment up to date
That’s right, during the initial access stage of Valheim, you can repair your equipment completely free of charge! Now you have no excuse to leave your weapons unpaid, for fear of using your supplies.
Make the most of the old buildings you find on the map
Do not ignore those old destroyed buildings that you find in the different biomes of Valheim as after making a Hammer, simply place a Workbench nearby. Now equip your hammer and use the middle mouse button to destroy the building, piece by piece. This is a great way to obtain resources with little or no effort.
Fishing rods exist! But they will cost you a hefty fee
Unlike other survival games, fishing rods cannot be manufactured in Valheim. Instead, you will need to visit a Merchant, which can only be found in the Black Forest biomes. For a complete guide on how to find Haldor the Merchant, click here.
Increase your shipping weight with this item
Need more storage space? Well, unfortunately, we have some bad news, as there is currently no way to increase your inventory space. However, you can purchase the Megingjord item from Haldor the Merchant for 950 gold coins. This item will allow you to increase your shipping weight from 300 to 450 – which is a considerable increase!
Defeat the first boss to make a pick
To make a Pickaxe in Valheim, you must first acquire a series of materials that can only be obtained by defeating the first boss in the game, Eikthyr.
Defeating Eikthyr should be quite an easy task, but as you can expect, facing your first boss is very stressful and will require a few hours of preparation before you dive in. Before facing Eikthyr, you must ensure that you have created leather armor, a shield and a flint ax / knife. All of these items require the following materials: deer skins, leather remains, flint, stone and wood.
Killing deer is also crucial, as you will need two deer heads to summon the powerful Stag Boss, Eikthyr.
When you defeat Eikthyr, you will receive several pairs of Hard Horns. These horns can be used to unlock the Antler pick, which can now be manufactured on a level 2 or higher bench.
