Luka Doncic is an NBA star after just two seasons in the league, and this season he is a legitimate MVP candidate for the Dallas Mavericks. While Luka continues to play at a high level, the Mavericks have been fighting and are nearing the end of the “food chain” at the Western Conference.
This team has dealt with many injuries and away players due to health and safety protocols, but in general, the lack of talent in this squad on the offensive side of the field this season is very clear. After taking third place in the league in goals a season ago and being one of the best offensive teams in the league, Mavs currently occupies the 20th place in the league in goals and is the last in the league in three-point shots.
With Kristaps Porzingis still working his way back at full strength on the court, the Mavericks have no one but Luka Doncic who feels comfortable having the ball in his hands. As a result, Dallas really needs to make a big move towards the NBA’s negotiation deadline if it wants to live up to the hype and potentially make it to the playoffs.
Although he may not be such an attractive name in the commercial market and is no longer viewed with good eyes, Kevin Love can still add a lot of value to a team looking to reach the playoffs like the Mavericks. He is a career shooter with a 37% distance from three points and given his skills to be an excellent rebound, he may be the third goal option this team needs.
Given the size of their contract and the amount of talent the Cavs have in their attacking court, they must be very willing to listen to Kevin Love’s offers. With that said, let’s take a look at a potential exchange between the Cleveland Cavaliers and the Dallas Mavericks involving Kevin Love.
