Tesla Semi will have a 500 kWh battery

It seems that Elon Musk likes to spread Tesla news about Joe Rogan while being interviewed on his podcast. On his last visit to Joe Rogan, we have already reported that he discussed how he wants to make the Roadster hover and how Cybertuck will be about 3% smaller.

Among the many cool things they talked about, Elon talked a little about the next Tesla Semi and told us about one of the battery pack sizes:

“You want something on the order of probably a 500 kWh package. What we have on the Model S and X is a 100 kWh package and probably something like a 500 kWh package on the Tesla Semi. “

This battery must be in the 300-mile strip model, which currently is priced at $ 150,000 according to the booking website. As for the $ 180,000 500-mile model, we can only guess the size. But with almost twice the range, the largest battery could have between 800 and 900 kWh. Since the long-range Semi will arrive later in production, maybe Elon will tell us the battery size the next time he’s on Joe Rogan’s podcast.

The Tesla Semi battery will use the company’s new 4680 battery. We recently shared a video showing the production of 4680 battery cells at Giga Berlin.

With the Semi’s engineering already completed, Tesla plans production in late 2021 at the Giga Texas facility that is still under construction. There are rumors that Tesla could produce up to 2,500 semis this year. There is also a good chance that the Semi will be Tesla’s first fully autonomous vehicle.
