Nintendo and Microsoft team up for a new service

Nintendo Switch Concierge is a new service that allows console owners to learn more about their system. Switch owners can schedule a meeting with Nintendo representatives through Microsoft Teams to discuss a range of potential topics, including customization, games to play, security and privacy, and more. The service is “open only to those who recently purchased a Nintendo Switch system”, although Nintendo did not offer a specific window. After all, it is interesting to see Nintendo using Microsoft technology for this type of service, and it is just another indication of how the relationship between the two companies has grown since Microsoft entered the console market!

Those interested in checking the Nintendo Switch Concierge service should keep in mind that there are a handful of restrictions. Users must be 18 years or older and are limited to one session per person. Nintendo also reserves the right to collect videos “of you, your voice and the environment around you, in order to interact with you, answer your questions and allow Nintendo to provide you with the requested service.” The service is completely free.

Although the Concierge would not be possible without Microsoft, there is something inherently similar to Nintendo in the concept; after all, this is the same company that created things like the Nintendo Power Line! The Nintendo Switch Concierge sounds like a spiritual evolution of this type of concept, although players are unlikely to receive any real hints about the games themselves. However, the idea of getting help from Nintendo directly from the company is almost as old as the NES. With the Switch currently working very well for Nintendo, it only makes sense for the company to look for ways to accommodate newcomers!

It will be interesting to see if new users adopt the option or not and how it will be useful! The concept is certainly very promising, but it is not yet known how it will work in practice. It is possible that many users are not comfortable talking to a company representative and the concept of being recorded can turn off other people.

Readers can find out more about the service and how to schedule a meeting by visiting Nintendo’s official website here.
