Rumor: AirTags due to launch in March with the new iPad Pro

Rumors that Apple’s AirTags could be launched as early as next month, a new leak says. This came after Apple’s trusted analyst Ming-Chi Kuo reported last month that AirTags were about to be launched in 2021.

Today’s leak comes from Jon Prosser, who tweeted that AirTags are “still in March” and that he “has not heard of more delays this time”. He also added a follow-up tweet that the new iPad Pro 2021 models are also on their way to March from now.

AirTags are expected to be Apple’s competition for Tile item trackers. Users will be able to attach an AirTag tracker to something like a backpack and locate it in the Find My app on the iPhone, iPad and Mac. AirTags have been rumored for over a year, and despite several reports suggesting a launch, nothing has materialized yet. .

As for the iPad Pro, several rumors have suggested that the launch would happen sometime in the first quarter of 2021, and Prosser says it will be in March. The expectation is that the mini-LED backlight will reach the 12.9-inch iPad Pro first, eventually followed by the 11-inch iPad Pro.

Mini-LED is a new form of backlight used for LCD screens, which includes many of the benefits like OLED, but can offer greater brightness, greater energy efficiency and less risk of burning.

The 2021 line of the iPad Pro should be virtually identical to the 2020 model in terms of design. So the biggest change is likely to be the change in screen technology, in addition to a new chip likely based on the internal A14 for even better performance.

Last month, we speculated that Apple could have enough new products in store for early 2021 to host a virtual event. What do you think? Will they be released to the press for the new iPad Pro and AirTags? Let us know in the comments!
