Jack Black, that of Tenacious D and School of Rock fame, will play Claptrap in the next Borderlands movie, according to Deadline. Black joins what in the space of a week has become an accumulated production, with Jamie Lee Curtis, Cate Blancheet and Kevin Hart scheduled to star in the film as well.
The film will bring Black (and Blanchett) together with director Eli Roth, who directed The house with a clock on the walls in 2018. “I’m so excited to meet Jack, this time in the recording booth,” said Roth Deadline. “Claptrap is the funniest character in the game, and Jack is perfect for bringing him to the big screen.”
After a long period of hellish development after its first announcement in 2015, Lionsgate made significant progress on the film. The last draft of your script was written by From Chernobyl Craig Mazin, who is also working at HBO’s The last of us adaptation. As there is still no official date, it is still early for production. But if you ask us, Black is the perfect person to play the sarcastic Claptrap. Not only because of his previous film roles, but also because he played games like Brutal legend.
