Arima man, wife accused of Andrea’s murder

An Arima man is expected to appear virtually before an Arima Magistrate today, accused of the murder of Andrea Bharatt, which took place between 29 January and 4 February.

Negus George, 24, of Malabar, Arima, was charged with the crime on Wednesday after advice received from the Public Prosecutor’s Office, Roger Gaspard SC. DPP Gaspard also advised George’s wife, Giselle Hobson, 37, of the same address, to be accused of receiving stolen goods.

Andrea, 23, an official at the Arima Magistrates’ Court, was last seen getting into a taxi in Arima on 29 January. His family later made a report of a kidnapping. She was never seen alive again.

His decomposing body was found on a precipice in the Aripo Hills on February 4, 2021.

The investigations were overseen by ASP Douglas and Insp. Hosein, of the Homicide Investigations Department, Region 2, while George and Hobson, were accused by PC Israel Emmanuel, of the Arima Criminal Investigations Department (CID).

Officials from the Anti-Kidnapping Unit, Special Operations Response Team, Cyber ​​Crime Unit, Arima Police Station and CID were also involved in the investigations.
