PENNSYLVANIA – Pennsylvania has launched a new tool that authorities hope will clear up some of the ongoing confusion over the COVID-19 vaccine distribution process, while millions are waiting for their turn to receive the doses.
The online tool “YourTurn” aims to help residents discover their position in the state’s priority vaccine groups.
Residents under the age of 65 can enter their information to see if they are eligible. If they are eligible, they will be directed to a vaccination consultation registration link. If they are not qualified, they will receive more information about when they will become qualified, based on the information provided.
“When it is your turn, we will guide you on how to find a vaccine supplier. If it is not your turn, you can enter contact information to receive updates on the distribution of vaccines in Pennsylvania and so that we can inform you when it is. it’s your turn to get vaccinated, “said acting health secretary Alison Beam in a statement.
During a press conference on Tuesday, senior Health Department aide Lindsey Mauldin cited the tool when asked about frustration with the state’s registration process. The state has no plans to move to a single centralized system, like other states, even as residents express frustration at trying to register for vaccine appointments in several locations, including county government providers, pharmacies and health centers that offer the vaccine.
But with a severe shortage of vaccines still occurring across the country, “qualifying for a vaccine does not guarantee available doses or schedules,” state officials remind the public.
If residents do not have access to the internet to register, they can call 877-PA-HEALTH
On Tuesday, Governor Tom Wolf announced the formation of a Joint Vaccine Task Force COVID-19, composed of members from each legislative convention. Task force members will represent the viewpoint of their caucus and work to streamline conversations to focus and address important issues, according to an announcement from the governor’s office.
The state completed 1,049,609 partial vaccinations and 302,639 complete vaccinations by Wednesday morning.
Pennsylvania residents can find out more about where they can be vaccinated and when they will be eligible on the state Department of Health’s vaccination website here.
