Instagram kicks off Robert F. Kennedy Jr. account on COVID vaccine claims

Instagram kicks off Robert F. Kennedy Jr. account on COVID vaccine claims

February 10, 2021 14:47 by NewsDesk

Instagram on Wednesday said it snatched Robert F. Kennedy Jr.’s account for making false claims about the COVID-19 vaccine.

“We removed this account by repeatedly sharing denied claims about the coronavirus or vaccines,” said a spokesman.

The prominent antivaxxer had 800,000 followers on the platform when his account was banned.

He recently wrongly linked the death of legendary baseball player Hank Aaron to the COVID-19 shot, while claiming that there was “a wave of suspicious deaths among the elderly” who got the vaccine.

Kennedy’s Facebook page was still active on Wednesday.

A Facebook spokesman, owner of Instagram, said the company does not automatically disable accounts in all of its applications, as users can post different things on different platforms.
