Have you ever heard a catchy song on your smart speaker and wanted to share it right away? You can act on that urge if you have an Echo. Amazon is launching a music sharing feature that allows you to share music with Alexa contacts using Echo devices or the Alexa app. Ask the voice assistant to “share this song with” a contact and he can not only choose to listen, but send a reaction.
Fortunately, you don’t have to use Amazon Music or even the same streaming service as your recipient. Alexa will try to find a clue on any service available to you. If there is no match, you will still receive a station based on the name of the artist and the title of the song.
You can try the feature by enabling Alexa Communications. If you are not sure which contacts can receive a song, you can start a new message to see who is available.
Amazon characterized this as “just the beginning” of the sharing feature, suggesting possible updates in the future. For now, though, the feature can be useful if you prefer not to resort to texting or social media just to spread the word about an unmissable song – at least, as long as your friends are as invested in the Alexa Ecosystem as you are.
