Since the flagships of the older Galaxy only recently received One UI 3.0, we didn’t expect Samsung to push the latest Galaxy S21 version 3.1 for these phones any time soon. However, the company decided to give its existing customers a pleasant surprise by kick-starting the launch. At the moment, the Galaxy S20 FE is already receiving its One UI 3.1 update, leaving behind its most premium siblings from last year.
Many Galaxy S20 FE 5G owners in Europe accessed Reddit earlier today to report receiving a 1.7 GB update that includes One UI 3.1 and the February security patch. With this construction, you can expect the integration of Google Discover on the home screen, Google Home device controls in quick settings, and several new video call effects between apps, among other things. Early users noted that certain features of the S21, such as the Director’s Vision, have not been transferred to the budget flagship.
SamMobile can confirm that the update has already been released in European markets, including the Baltic region, Belgium, Czech Republic, France, Germany, Greece, Italy, Netherlands, Nordic countries, Poland, Portugal, Romania, Slovenia, Spain, Switzerland and the UK. If you are in any of these countries holding a Galaxy S20 FE 5G, you can go to the software update section in the settings application to look for the update notification.
It is important to note that only the 5G model of the S20 FE is receiving One UI 3.1 as of now, while we have no news about the 4G variant only. Considering that the update is now available for the Tab S7 / S7 + and is now coming to non-flagship phones, we hope that more Samsung devices will make the list as soon as possible.
