WandaVision showrunner Jac Schaeffer discussed the decision to kill Maria Rambeau in Disney + ‘s first MCU series.
WandaVision was full of surprises, including the revelation that Maria Rambeau de Lashana Lynch died of cancer in the five-year period between Snap at the end of Avengers: Infinity War and the Blip in Avengers: Endgame.
Series showrunner Jac Schaeffer discussed the decision to kill Maria with Entertainment Tonight, saying “it was a big decision. We had a lot of conversations and Maria and Lashana, the actor, were very important in Captain Marvel and such a tremendous character. We did not make that decision lightly. “At the end of the day, though, Schaeffer and his team believed that killing Maria” really worked for Monica [Rambeau]character and what it meant to her. We also love the idea that Maria had built SWORD from scratch. “
