HBO Max Announces New Adult Entertainment Programs, Including Velma Dinkley Origin Story

HBO Max announced series orders for three new adult entertainment programs, including a Scooby-Doo spin-off that will tell Velma Dinkley’s origin story and a Clone High revival. The original and comical series, appropriately titled Velma, will unmask the complex and colorful past of the underrated brains of the Scooby-Doo Mystery Inc. gang, Velma Dinkley, voiced by executive producer Mindy Kaling (The Office). Charlie Grandy, Howard Klein and Sam Register will also serve as executive producers on the 10-episode series, which is being produced by Warner Bros. Animation.

In addition to Velma, HBO Max ordered two seasons of Clone High, a retelling of the series Phil Lord, Chris Miller and Bill Lawrence 2002 set in a school for clones of historical figures. In addition to writing the series, Lord and Miller will reunite with Lawrence to serve as executive producers in the MTV revival, with Erica Rivinoja designated as a showrunner.

The streaming company also populated its adult animation list with Nate Sherman and Nick Vokey’s Fired on Mars, an existential workplace comedy set on the Martian campus of a modern technology company; Pete Davidson of SNL will be lending his voice to one of the characters. HBO Max has also renewed JG Quintel’s adult animation comedy Close Enough for two more seasons.

These new projects join a pre-populated list of adult entertainment programs, with names like Harley Quinn, The Prince, Santa Inc., 10 Year Old Tom and The Boondocks previously announced by the network, as well as a new list of originals from adult animation from HBO Max, including Hello Paul, Obi, Uncanny Valley and Cover, which are currently in development.
