If not the Seahawks in 2021, where will Russell Wilson play?

While it seems more likely that a change in Seahawks’ quarterback Russel Wilson will take place at least next year, the situation appears to be developing rapidly. Encouraged by the sharp but diplomatic comments from Wilson to Dan Patrick, some are wondering if a negotiation could happen in 2021.

Limiting the Seahawks makes 2021 negotiation difficult, but not impossible. Before June 1, the Seahawks would achieve a $ 39 million cap acceleration by trading with Wilson. After June 1, the Seahawks would carry $ 13 million this year and $ 26 million in 2022. With little or no off-season program planned for the second consecutive off-season, waiting to negotiate with Wilson until after June 1 would not be as crazy as it would be in a normal year.

So, if an exchange took place, where would Wilson go? The PointsBet people defined the odds.

The favorites are the Raiders, with +450. Then come the Cowboys, with +650.

The Jaguars land at +750, which presumably would imply switching the first general choice to Seattle. Next comes Washington at +800, 49ers at +900 (not happening), Broncos at +1000, Colts at +1100 and Dolphins at +1300.

Keep an eye on the Cowboys. This is a team that has been on the radar screen as a potential destination for Wilson for some time. And it really makes a lot of sense for 2022, if the Cowboys are unable to reach a long-term agreement with Dak Prescott.

Given that the Cowboys would have to offer a 44 percent increase over Prescott’s $ 37 million franchise bid in 2021 to mark him a third time, that could be the moment when the Cowboys would play for someone like Wilson.

But it may be too late. Wilson launched an attack on the media on several fronts and he is winning. No one is mad at Wilson for saying what he said on Tuesday, and fans and the media seem to agree with his concern that the Seahawks have not put enough talent around him in recent years.
