MLB health and safety protocols for the 2021 season – The Athletic

The health and safety protocols agreed by Major League Baseball and the Major League Baseball Players Association on Monday night are similar to what they were during the 2020 season, but with some changes.

Players, similar to their colleagues in the NFL and NBA, will use sensors that allow clubs to monitor social distance and conduct contact tracking if an individual test is positive. And, unlike last season, the first move during the COVID-19 pandemic, they will be subject to possible discipline for violating protocols, including suspensions or loss of salary if they waste time.

Many of the changes the league and union adopted for the 60-game season in 2020, including seven-entry double matches and a new extra entry rule, will remain in effect.
