JACKSONVILLE, Florida. – A woman accused of shooting a policeman during a high-risk search warrant is receiving support from across the country after a 911 call suggests she didn’t know it was the police at her door.
The group of supporters is asking the prosecutor to drop the charges against Diamonds Ford.
People across the country raised more than $ 500,000 to bail her out of prison while she awaits trial.
A cheerful Ford ran to his family after being released from prison on Friday.
Ford said she is innocent and hopes that the charges against her will be dropped.
“I feel that the power of blessed dignity has done its job in uniting women’s empowerment to get enough money to get me out of there. I am very grateful, ”said Ford.
Dignity Power helped raise bail money.
“I believe in her story and, in a way, it is inspiring and, in another way, it is just another day at work,” said Danielle Chanzes, organizer of Dignity Power.

While in prison, Ford said he spent most of his time thinking about his daughter.
Her lawyer, Stephen Kelly, has been fighting for months to get her out of prison. When a lower title was denied, fundraising started.
“The only way to proceed with justice is to have these charges dropped,” said Kelly.
Ford is currently accused of attempting to murder a police officer. Both were charged with armed possession of marijuana with intent to sell.
Ford says that when she shot a police officer in September, she thought an intruder was at her home.
Ford says her fiancé Anthony Gantt gave her a gun to shoot through the window and that the 911 call she made proves her claim.
The police were executing a high-risk search warrant. Officer JSO’s life was saved by his bulletproof vest.

Local lawyer Randy Reep, not affiliated with the case, says it will be difficult to prove Ford’s intentions.
“This is an incredible challenge for the state because they need to get into the sniper’s mind to say that they knew that the sniper, in this case, Miss. Ford knew he was shooting a policeman, ”said Reep.
Community organizations across the country, including The National Bail Fund Networkand The Minnesota Freedom Fund coordinated to raise more than $ 530,000 to release it.
